DC vs GT IPL 2023: “He Batted Extremely Well” Akash Chopra Praise Sai Sudharsan For His Contribution

Gujarat Titans claimed a convincing victory over Delhi Capitals in their recent IPL 2023 encounter, thanks in large part to Sai Sudharsan’s brilliant batting display. The former Indian cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra praised Sudharsan’s contribution, hailing him as a new hero for the Titans.

Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bat first, but their top order failed to fire, with Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, and Rilee Rossouw all falling cheaply. Despite David Warner’s 37 off 32 balls, the Capitals were struggling to post a competitive total. However, the lower-middle order stepped up, with Axar Patel, Sarfaraz Khan, and Abishek Porel playing determined innings to help their team reach 162/8.

In response, the Gujarat Titans got off to a solid start, with opener Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha putting on a 49-run partnership for the first wicket. However, Delhi Capitals’ Anrich Nortje struck twice in quick succession, removing both openers and putting the Titans under pressure.

But as they did last season, the Titans found a new hero in Sai Sudharsan. The uncapped left-handed batsman played a brilliant inning, scoring an unbeaten 62 off 48 balls to guide his team to victory with six wickets and 11 deliveries to spare. Sudharsan’s innings included six fours and two sixes, and he showed great composure and clean hitting throughout his stay at the crease.

Former cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra was full of praise for Sudharsan, commending his temperament and technique. Chopra compared Sudharsan to another uncapped left-handed batsman, Tilak Varma of Mumbai Indians, and suggested that both players have bright futures ahead of them.

“Sai Sudharsan batted extremely well, considering the temperament he showed, the kid plays extremely clean. Two left-handers are being discussed in India currently, both are uncapped. Both have shown their prowess in this year’s league – one is Tilak Varma and the other is Sai Sudharsan, and both have been very good.” said Chopra.

“Delhi tried a lot but it was just a fighting total” – Aakash Chopra

Chopra also acknowledged the efforts of Delhi Capitals’ lower-middle order, who played vital innings to help their team reach a fighting total. “Delhi tried a lot, but it was just a fighting total and not a winnable one, and you only reached there when Axar Patel, Sarfaraz Khan, and Abishek Porel played well. The big guns just did not fire, whether it was Rilee Rossouw or Mitchell Marsh. David Warner did score runs, but he was lucky as the bails didn’t fall when the ball hit the stump.” said Chopra.

Despite the defeat, Delhi Capitals will take heart from the performances of their lower-middle order and will look to bounce back in their next game. The Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, will be delighted with their victory and will hope that Sai Sudharsan can continue to perform at such a high level throughout the tournament.

The IPL 2023 season has already provided plenty of excitement and drama, with some thrilling matches and outstanding individual performances. With many more games to come, cricket fans around the world will be eagerly anticipating more entertainment and excitement from one of the world’s premier T20 leagues.
