Chennai Super Kings vs Gujarat Titans, IPL 2023 Final Scorecard: Chennai Super Kings named their 5th IPL trophy under the captaincy of legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. IPL 2023 final match was played between defending champions Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings at Ahmedabad on 29th May 2023. It was officially scheduled to be conducted on 28 May 2023 but due to the heavy rain at the venue, it had been scheduled to the reserve day.
MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bowl first, Gujarat Titans opened their innings with Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha, Saha scored 54 runs in 39 balls and Gill scored 39 runs in 20 balls. Sai Sudharsan scored the most runs for GT, he scored 96 runs in 47 balls with the strike rate of 204.26. With the help of these top three innings, Gujarat Titans set the target of 214 runs on the board after losing 4 wickets for CSK to chase.
In the second inning, rain disturbed the match and players had to wait to get back on the field. Rain took a huge time and DLS came into the game, 5 overs were reduced and CSK got a new target of 171 runs to chase in 15 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway came to open from the CSK side and both provided a strong base for the middle-order batsmen, both contributed 74 runs.
Gaikwad scored 26 off 16 balls, and Conway scored 47 off 25 balls. Then Shivam Dubey played a good inning of 32 runs in 21 balls and Rahane supported the team with his 27 runs in 13 balls knock inning. Ambati Rayudu played his last match of the IPL and made his performance memorable for the CSK fans, he scored 19 runs in just 8 balls that bring CSK closer to the victory.
And we can not forget Jadeja’s 10 runs in the last two balls when the team needed 10 runs in the last two balls in Mohit Sharma’s over. Chennai Super Kings won the match by 5 wickets and named their 5th IPL trophy.
