RR Playing 11 Against Delhi Capitals
Openers: Devdutt Padikkal, Yashasvi Jaiswal
Jos Buttler might be missing today’s match against Delhi Capitals so Devdutt Padikkal will open the inning along with Yashasvi Jaiswal. Padikkal used to open from Royal Challengers Bangalore but in Rajasthan, he is struggling to score big runs in the middle order.
On the other side, Yashasvi Jaiswal is playing great as an opener so far this season. He scored 54 runs in 37 balls with a strike rate of 145.95. His inning includes 9 fours and zero sixes against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Middle Order: Sanju Samson (c & wk), Joe Root, Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer
Sanju Samson, the captain himself comes to bat at the third position to provide his team with some stability. He scored a half-century (55 off 32 balls) in the first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. And score 42 runs in 25 balls against Punjab Kings in the second match.
Joe Root is likely to replace injured Jos Buttler and he will bat in the middle order because team management has decided to promote Devdutt Padikal in the batting order, he will open along with Jaiswal in today’s match. Root’s excellent performances in ILT20 made him enter the IPL 2023, he scored 214 runs in just five innings.
Riyan Parag scored 20 runs in 12 balls in the first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He will be played in the middle order in today’s match as in the previous match RR played. Shimron Hetmyer will come to bat after Riyan Parag but his batting order may be promoted according to the situation. He has the capability to hit big sixes and score runs with a high strike rate.
All-rounders: Ravichandran Ashwin, Jason Holder
Ashwin opens the inning instead of Jos Buttler in the previous match because Buttler was injured during the fielding. His inning did not go well, he got caught at duck when attempting a big shot to ease off the pressure.
Jason Holder took two wickets in the first match against Punjab Kings. He has the capability to contribute to the team with the bat and ball but did not show his skills with the bat for his franchise so far in the tournament.
Bowlers: Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Sen
Trent Bould comes with the experience of bowling in tough situations and he proved himself the best-experienced bowler for Rajasthan Royals. Yuzvenda Chahal was the top wickets taker in the IPL 2023 season, he got the purple cap the previous season.
