RR vs CSK: “I Was Not Getting Opportunities To Play One-Two Years Ago”- Ajinkya Rahane’s Takes A Jab At KKR, DC Post Comeback At CSK

Ajinkya Rahane, the middle-order batsman for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), made a scathing remark against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) after his incredible innings against KKR in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

In the match against KKR, Rahane played an outstanding unbeaten knock of 71 runs off just 29 balls, leading CSK to a massive 49-run victory.

Rahane, who was dropped from the Indian team due to poor form, has been performing brilliantly since his debut for CSK, scoring 61 runs off 27 balls in his debut match against the Mumbai Indians. He has made a fantastic comeback in this year’s IPL and has been scoring runs at a fast pace for CSK.

“I really enjoyed my knock, but I feel my best is (yet) to come. I really want to continue this form, I am finally getting a chance to play. If you see one or two years back, I was not getting a chance to play. If I can’t play consistently then how will I show how I can play and what shots I have in my arsenal,” said Ajinkya Rahane.

“I was really happy when CSK picked me”- Ajinkya Rahane

He also gave credit to mentor MS Dhoni’s leadership for transforming him at CSK and enabling him to showcase his power-hitting skills.

“You get a chance to learn many things when you play under Mahi Bhai (MS Dhoni). As a batter and cricketer, you always want to grow, The turning point is here I’m getting chances to play. I was really happy when CSK picked me. They gave me the opportunity to play and express myself,” Ajinkya Rahane said.

“If you see, I was not getting opportunities to play one-two yeasr ago. And, if you don’t play matches, how would you show what shots you have in your armory, You can’t show them your stroke-making if you’re not consistently playing” Ajinkya Rahane added.

When asked if his knock was a response to his snub at KKR, Rahane said, “You guys have to decide that. It’s all about doing well for CSK for me, and I’ll let my bat do the talking.” Rahane was with KKR in the previous season but received minimal action under Shreyas Iyer’s guidance. He played seven matches and scored 133 runs at a strike rate of less than 104.
