WPL 2023 Schedule, Teams, Live Telecast, Venues, Squad: BCCI officially announced the Women’s Premier League 2023 Schedule on February 14, everything is set to start from March 2023.
The very first season of the Women’s Premier League is set to commence in the month of March 2023. BCCI has already announced the WPL Schedule 2023, and the auction is also done for the league. A total of 5 teams are going to participate in this tournament which is going to take place in March 2023. The teams are Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Giants, UP Warriors, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians.
As you can see, RCB, DC and MI have grabbed their spot in the Women’s IPL as well. Two new teams from new owners have been added in the WPL which were not part of Men’s IPL; UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants. However, we can expect more teams to come on board in the upcoming seasons as the craze about WPL will go on air.
The inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League saw a total of 87 players come under the hammer and sold, INR 59,50,00,000 spent across all five WPL franchises. The first ever-bid of WPL history became the most expensive bid of the season, it was Smriti Mandhana who got sold for INR 3.40 Cr to Royal Challengers Bangalore. Later, she was appointed as the captain of the RCB squad.

Just after the completion of the WPL 2023 Auction, BCCI has declared the WPL 2023 Schedule officially. If you want to know the schedule then this section is going to be useful for you.
The tournament is going to take place from 4 March 2023 to 26 March 2023. The opening match of the tournament will be played between the Gujarat Giants vs Mumbai Indians on 4 March 2023 at DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. A total of 22 matches will be played between the 5 franchises, including Eliminator and Final match.

WPL 2023 Auction
A total of 87 women cricket players came under the hammer, 57 were Indian players whereas 30 players are from overseas. Smriti Mandhana who was the first bid of the WPL Auction turned out to be the most expensive bid of the season. She was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore at INR 3.40 Crores.
She has been appointed as the captain to lead the RCB-W Squad in the Women’s Premier League.

WPL 2023 Venues

As the WPL is quite new and it is in its launch stage, BCCI decided to use only two stadiums for the first season of Women’s IPL.
WPL tournament will be played in two stadiums in Mumbai. All the matches will be played on these two venues including the eliminator and final matches as well.

- DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai
We can expect more venues in this league in the upcoming season as soon as the league get love from the fans as the men’s IPL but in this season, there will be only two stadiums for all the matches.
WPL League Format

- The winner of the Eliminator match will play the Final match against the topper of the table

Viacom18 has acquired the broadcasting rights of Women’s Premier League 2023 from season 2023 to 2027 for a cumulative figure of INR 951 crores (i.e., INR 7.09 crores per match).
