IPL 2016 Points Table: Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets in IPL 2016 final match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. SRH lift their first-ever IPL trophy that day, David Warner was the captain of the franchise.
In IPL 2016, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were not in the tournament because of 2 years ban from IPL. Two new franchises Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions were introduced as the replacement for CSK and RR.
SRH performed brilliantly through the season, they won 8 matches out of 14 total matches played by a team. They made their way to the playoffs by holding the 3rd position in the IPL points table in 2016.
SRH met Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator match at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. The squad defeated KKR by 22 runs and made them qualified to play Qualifier 2 match against table topper Gujarat Lions led by Suresh Raina. They defeated GL by 4 wickets in the Qualifier 2 match in Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
Royal Challengers Bangalore was waiting for SRH after winning the first Qualifier against Gujrat Lions by 4 wickets. Hyderabad defeated Bangalore by 8 runs in the IPL 2016 final match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
